Why hire a professional artist? To pamper yourself,
minimize stress, and to be sure that you do not look
washed out in your pictures, whether they are color,
black and white, or sepia. Lets face it, your attire
is probably costing you a good sum of money you need
the face to go with it!! After all, the pictures will
be focusing more on your face than the attire itself.
Here are a few interesting facts and tips that we
would like to share with you. If you have any makeup
questions, please feel free to call us anytime.
- Why Bobbi Brown cosmetics? We love how the product
is brown and yellow based. We can easily achieve a
natural look. The products can be blended beautifully
to create new shades and new looks. While most people
like a soft, neutral look, the line also has colors in
it to add drama, if so desired. The makeup brushes
are also wonderful, professional tools that create a
seamless and/or defined look.
- Emergency kits for the big event should include:
- Compact powder, preferably an oil-blotting one
- Lipstick and possibly liner
- Tissues or handkerchief for trapping tears
- Fragrance
- We use a special eye shadow base to keep shadow from
creasing.
- We go over eye pencil with a coordinating shadow
liner, in order to "set" the color and keep it from
running.
- Wear a pretty blush the day of the event pink for
fair skin, rose for dark skin.
- For pictures, makeup intensity should be slightly
more than normal done like you are attending a black
tie event, even if your event is during the day.
- For black and white pictures, a white shadow or
creamy shimmer shadow is beautiful on the brow bone.
A dab of lip-gloss is also great for black and white.
- Do not use powder to set lipstick it will get dry
and cakey. Start with a lip pencil and fill in the
entire lip if desired. Follow up with a couple layers
of satin color or stain, blotting in between
applications.
- Put moisturizer on at least one hour before makeup is
done. You want it to soak into the skin and not
conflict with foundation.
- Have eyebrows shaped a week to 4 days prior to the
event any closer to the day may result in tender spots
and the makeup may not be as smooth.
- We are used to covering blemishes and can
practically make them "disappear", particularly if you
try to keep your hands off of them prior to the event.
- Be sure to moisturize and exfoliate your skin,
especially during dry winter months. Foundation and
powder do not look great on dry, flaky skin.
- You may want to see a facialist months prior to the
event and come up with a game plan for top-notch skin.
- Take care of your lips get in the habit of putting
lip balm on every night.
- Nails are best when done in natural shades or sheer
pinks. They will look fresh and pretty. Chipping
will not show as much.
- Makeup colors are chosen, not necessarily to match
flowers or clothing color we look at the client's
overall coloring first and foremost.
